Luna Flower

The Brief

Create a logo for a local florist with an Art Nouveau feel - think vintage Parisian. Both words in the logo need to have equal prominence and it has to be fluid and beautiful.

The flower shop is a small but perfectly formed local favourite. Sitting on the high street in a popular seaside village of North Wales. A winner of numerous awards for outstanding work, especially noted in wedding floristry, undeniable artistry. The most laid-back and friendly service - always with a smile.

This project was a delight to work on and, as with all my projects, began with some mood boarding. We had to decide if a scripty-swirly uppercase design would be overly fussy and make it difficult to read. Based on a style of font that the client felt suited her vision, and that was a good balance of readable and fancy, I hand drew the letters and sketched out some extra flourishes, loops and bends that would add that 'Alphonse Mucha', Art Nouveau vibe. The end result was a logo that is bold and captures the feel of this lovely place.

The signage was hand painted in gold to fill a whole window. Luna Flower window displays are well known round these parts and give such a buzz when a new magical arrangement pops up. Silver birch trees, falling snow, spooky Hallowe'en black cats and crunchy Autumn leaves... it really is a special place. Business cards incorporate the flower wallpaper pattern that appears on a large feature wall.
