Create brand assets for print, digital + merch design that reflect the personality of the salon and have a rustic feel.

Phase IV is Dawn’s fourth salon in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Since the original opening, it has expanded, incorporating a beauty and aesthetics clinic. Dawn is the coolest girl in town and the design needed to reflect this quirky and rustic salon.
My job was to create a new aesthetic that could be used across brochures, window price lists, business cards, vouchers, uniform and digital assets for social media, web and the their booking app. Dawn asked for ‘messy’ flowers and wanted dark navy to match the colour scheme of the interior. Phase IV use Kevin Murphy hair products and the packaging is on display, featuring fresh minty blues, pretty pinks and pastel purples which work really well and pop against the navy and so I wanted to pull that through into the design. I combined the scruffy hand drawn flowers with a subtle mandala pattern in the background which was influenced by Dawn’s forearm tattoo. The flowers were illustrated using a Japanese ink brush pen for a relaxed freehand style and then colourised digitally for versatility within the overall design.
The salon brochures have evolved over time and we've currently stripped back the brochure to a simple Z fold 6 page hairdressing price list. We retained the luxe nature of the print with silk card stock and matt lamination so help keep the colours vibrant.
